Anthony Miles
Various album cover works for singer/songwriter Anthony Miles
Anthony Miles definitely counts to the best songwriters out there. With effortlessly beautiful word combinations and lyric parts that feel almost like a poem, his songs inspire to embrace Freedom and the important parts of life.
Combined with the ability to both play piano and guitar mixed with an amazing singing voice, this adds up to most incredible indie single recordings.
It was an extraordinary pleasure to create artworks for two of Anthony Miles' single releases.
Given the beautiful lyric work, it was no big issue to come up with creative ideas.
5 seconds cover
Development
The song "5 seconds" is about the theoretical rule that if you have an idea, you should take action within the first 5 seconds after or the initiative deflagrates.
♪♫ "Where you are now - ain't such an easy place... getting through the day somehow, putting on your brave face" ... "It's closer than you think, it's time to step into your choice" ♫♪
I tried to catch this very moment of decision, here made by an office worker, who finally walks into the surf shop he passed by so many times before.
The almost artificial look supports the dry, unhuman surrounding the protagonist is living in, whereas the color contrast of orange and turqoise shows the vast difference of both worlds.
FINAL COVER
Somersaulting soul cover
Development
"Somersaulting Soul" is an elevating track on escaping the density of the city and setting the soul free.
♫♪ "I think I found a bypass through this cold and concrete place" ... "I'm starting to remember just how much this world could mean to me" ♪♫
The guitar strings open the door - out of the grey, into the beauty of nature's roaming extends.
Fitting the beautiful indie vibe of the song, made with acoustic instruments and a raw, unrefined sound, I added use marks on the cover and gave it a vintage look, like straight out of the 70s.
