"I know one thing. I want to see Carlos Santana in my life, at least once - see him play, move his fingers on the fretboard. Listen to the magical notes he plays."

That's my words.

...then, I received the news Santana would be playing in Germany in 2025.

Wait. What?

I was convinced I'd have to go to Las Vegas to see Carlos play.

My entire world shifted. He's coming to Berlin; and then, my hometown Hamburg. Hard to believe this was going to be real.

Berlin was unreal. I cried entering the venue. People were supposed to sit down on fixed seats. Well, they didn't. It took Berlin two songs until everybody jumped up and danced towards the front peacefully. Security couldn't do anything against this power of music. They had to let the people dance.

I leaned over the stage barrier, Carlos playing one of my favorite songs, just a bodylength away.

Thinking of it now, given that I didn't even expect to get to see him without long, expensive travels...

Life was so generous to me. Carlos was, too, by coming to Europe. Thank you.

The first sketch of this piece was one of the toughest ones I've ever made. My Dad had to pose for me so I could get the right anatomy... I really didn't make it easy for myself! Especially the mirrored version had to be exact and is so unusual that it took forever to work it out.
